Steel Bar Grating - Types of Bearing Bars and Applications Where Grating Is Used

China steel grating manufacturer & supplier

Steel bar grating is defined as an open grid assembly of metal bars in which the bearing bars running in one direction. The bearing bears are spaced by rigid attachment to cross bars running perpendicular to them to connect the bars to extend them. The term welded grating is defined as a process in which the bearing bar and crossbars are welded to produce a firm structure. In press lock grating, the bearing bar and crossbars are pressed together to form a lock. Not the least, but the last, heavy-duty steel grating is used for larger and thicker bearing bars for heavy traffic and loads.

What Are Bearing Bars and Types of Bearing Bars

The load-carrying bearing bars are made from steel strips, or we can call it a slit strip sheet. There are various types of bearing bars works specifically for several different purposes; let’s take a sneak peek:

1. I Bar

It has the sectional shape that reassembles the letter I, due to which it’s named as I bar. It’s quite light in weight but must be high in strength used in steel bar grating.

2. Rectangular Bar

Bearing bar, which has a flat strip in rectangular shape commonly used in various applications where steel grating is required.

3. Serrated Bar

Bearing bars that have top surfaces notched carefully to use with all its benefits. It is said, some of the press-locked gratings depend on the serrated bearing bars.

Applications Where Steel Grating Is Used

Railcars:

The freight cars and other locomotives are often equipped with bar grating used for brake steps, running boards, walkways, and other platforms. Here the serrated bar grating offers an increased grip to reduce the risk of falling. You can have the required services for your application from any China steel grating manufacturer at an inexpensive rate.

Catwalk Floor:

An automated catwalk is an eminent pedestrian walkway giving way to work circumstances without blocking operations on the work floor. Plain and smooth serrated surfaces are commonly used in the manufacturing of catwalk floor. They are long-lasting, durable, and efficient that require low maintenance cost.

Sump Covers:

A sump cover is known as a pit where liquid like water or other chemicals is collected. Here the steel grating, which is also known as an excellent solution. It has the features of load tolerances and open designs that allow for proper drainage while keeping the larger objects from entering into the sump.
